TO LEAD VIDEO OPERATIONS
Six zone vice presidents announced to build
Blockbuster's regional performance
DALLAS , December 15, 1997--Blockbuster, the leading global brand name in home video and entertainment retailing, announced today the appointment of Michael K. Roemer as Senior Vice President to Video Operations. Previously, Roemer consulted for companies, such as Frito Lay where he worked in new product development, distribution and business process planning. He worked for 29 years with The Southland Corporation, where he oversaw operations of all 7-Eleven U.S. stores, then headed marketing and merchandising for both the United States and Canada. The six leaders of the regional team are: Jim Mizouni, Greg Parsons, Horace Price, Karen Danner, Randy McKee and Ned Dickey. Jim Mizouni has been promoted to Zone Vice President(ZVP) for the newly created Northeast Zone. Mizouni came to Blockbuster as District Manager in 1988. He served as Zone Training Manager, then Manager of Opertions, before moving up to Director, Operations Planning and Analysis in 1992. Greg Parsons remains as ZVP, Mid-Atlantic Zone. Grea joined Blockbuster in 1988 as Director of Operations for a franchisee in Tampa and was named District Manager, Tampa, in 1991. He was promoted to Director of Operations, Central Zone, Denver, in 1993 and was named ZVP in 1996. This zone will headquarter in Columbia, Maryland and will include Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia and the Carolinas. Horace Price, formerly ZVP, Midwest Zone, will be bringing his leadership to the Southeast Zone. Horace joined Blockbuster in April 1996 and previously was Vice President/General Manager of The Dial Corporation and National Sales Manager for Mobil Oil Corporation. This zone includes Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Karen Danner has been promoted to ZVP, Midwest Zone, Chicago. She joined Blockbuster as Director of Operations, Movies to To, in 1986. Karen was promoted to Product Manager in 1988; District Manager in 1990; and Director, Regional Operations, in 1994. This zone includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Randy McKee remains as ZVP of the Central Zone, Dallas. Randy has been with Blockbuster since 1989 where he joined the company as Area Manager. He then was promoted to Regional Director of Operations in 1990. He was named ZVP in 1995. This zone includes Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico.
Ned Dickey remains as ZVP of the Western Zone, San Diego. He began his career with Blockbuster as Regional Director of Operations, Midwest, in 1992 and was promoted to ZVP in 1996. Prior he was Division Operations Manager for National Convenience Stores/Stop-n-Go. Additionally, he will support the newly created Pacific Northwest Zone until a new ZVP is named. The Western Zone includes southern California, southern Nevada and Arizona; Alaska and Hawaii are also part of the Western Zone. Blockbuster already employs approximately 85,000 associates worldwide and expects the number of employees to grow as it delivers on its expansion plan. Blockbuster operates nearly 6,000 video and music neighborhood entertainment stores in 28 international countries.
