ROBERT DUVALL TO GREET FANS AT DALLAS BLOCKBUSTER MUSIC® STORE FEB. 24

Steven Curtis Chapman also to appear

DALLAS, Feb. 19, 1998 -- Academy Award winner and current nominee Robert Duvall and three-time Grammy Award winner Steven Curtis Chapman will meet with fans at a Dallas Blockbuster Music store Feb. 24 to promote the soundtrack to Duvall's new movie, "The Apostle."

Duvall will appear at 6:30 p.m., Feb. 24, at the Blockbuster Music store located on Northwest Highway at Preston Road to greet fans and sign autographs. Steven Curtis Chapman, who composed "I Will Not Go Quietly" for the film, will join Duvall. The soundtrack is available at Blockbuster Video and Music stores.

Duvall is known to American audiences through his roles as a country singer in "Tender Mercies," which won him an Academy Award, as well as his performance in the TV mini-series, "Lonesome Dove." His latest work in "The Apostle" tells the tale of a southern Pentecostal preacher. Duvall wrote, directed and starred in the film, and his performance has earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

Steven Curtis Chapman, who has earned 32 Dove Awards, had 26 number one singles and sold four million albums, wrote "I Will Not Go Quietly" after an early pre-release screening of the film. The title has been released as a single.

"We are looking forward to hosting Mr. Duvall and Mr. Chapman's visit to Dallas to provide Blockbuster customers with the opportunity to meet them and help celebrate this monumental work," says Mike Mandzia, Blockbuster senior buyer. "Gospel music has been a part of the American musical landscape for generations, leaving a rich history to draw upon. This soundtrack builds on that history with new recordings of the old favorites, plus new compositions to keep the genre alive and flourishing."

Duvall performs on the soundtrack with Emmylou Harris in a duet of the classic hymn, "I Love to Tell the Story," which also features Vince Gill on the mandolin.

The soundtrack is a Rising Tide Records release and produced by Peter Afterman, John Huie and Ken Levitan. Duvall and Scott Greenstein are executive producers.

The film is an October Films release and was produced by Rob Carliner with Barry Markowitz, director of photography; Peter Afterman, music supervisor and original score by David Mansfield. The film also stars Farrah Fawcett, Miranda Richardson, John Beasley, June Carter Cash, Billy Joe Shaver and Billy Bob Thornton.
