FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINE'S DAY, RECENT SURVEY REVEALS VIDEO RENTERS' FAVORITE ROMANTIC MOVIE TITLES
DALLAS, February 9, 1998 --Searching for the perfect movie for a romantic Valentine's Day rendezvous? A recent survey of active video renters showed that "Gone With The Wind" topped the list of favorite all-time romantic movies. Following the epic 1939 film on the survey results were, respectively, "Sleepless in Seattle," "Pretty Woman," "Casablanca," "Ghost," "When Harry Met Sally," "Titanic," "An Affair to Remember," "Somewhere in Time," and "My Best Friend's Wedding." "The results of the survey showed an interesting mix of classic and contemporary films," said Karen Raskopf, vice president of corporate communications at Blockbuster, the nation's leading video rental chain and the company that commissioned the survey. "And I'm glad to say that you can rent just about all of them at Blockbuster, with the exception of 'Titanic,' which will be released on video later this year. But right now we do carry the 'Titanic' soundtrack, which has been the best-selling CD in the history of our video stores." To help consumers in their search for the perfect Valentine gift or movie rental, Blockbuster commissioned the survey to help develop ideas for a special section of romance movies many of their stores will be offering this week. Some of the romance titles featured include: Blockbuster's guaranteed new releases through Memorial Day weekend include:
For a great Valentine's Day gift idea, Blockbuster stores will also be offering white, stuffed toy bears, called "Bear Hugs."
