FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BLOCKBUSTER® NAMES JOHN LAUCK VICE PRESIDENT
OF NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
DALLAS , January 22, 1997 -- Blockbuster, the leading name in home video rental, announced the appointment of John Lauck as vice president of new business development. "John has a proven track record in leading new product development, strategic planning, promotion/event marketing, and marketing research," said Mark Gilman, Blockbuster's executive vice president, real estate and new business development. "John has strong interpersonal and leadership skills as well as a strong energy level." Lauck's responsibilities will include developing strategic partnerships, business alliances and new concepts to drive incremental revenue growth. Departments reporting to him will include strategic alliances, international initiatives and new concepts. Lauck comes to Blockbuster from the Pizza Hut, Inc. division of PepsiCo, Inc., where he was vice president of restaurant marketing, directing development of local marketing programs for 4,500 Pizza Hut stores. Before that, Lauck worked in marketing development at General Mills.
