As part of its ongoing commitment to provide more copies of new releases to its members, Blockbuster will guarantee the availability of the popular movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" at participating stores in Savannah and nearby Charleston on Tuesday, June 9. This marks the first time Blockbuster will guarantee a new release in select markets. "The movie tells a story that shows the truly unique side of life in Savannah," said Melissa Hall, senior buyer for Blockbuster. "We knew that demand in these two areas would be great so, by guaranteeing 'The Garden,' we ensure that customers in Savannah and Charleston will Go Home Happy." Blockbuster introduced its new release guarantee earlier this year as part of the video rental chain's response to customers' requests for more copies of new releases. The program promises that featured new releases will be available or the rental is free. Based on John Berendt's best-selling book with the same name, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" is the true story of a Town and Country magazine reporter on assignment to write about Savannah high society. In the process, he witnesses scandal, secrets, spirits and murder beneath the town's genteel faÁade. Directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey and John Cusack, the movie was filmed on location in Savannah and featured a cast of local residents.
